NVIDIA is buying Hugging Face for $12,930,300,000 and says its own compute will not be required to use the platform
Jensen Huang announced on September 3 that NVIDIA has agreed to acquire Hugging Face, citing 18M+ developers, 3M+ models, 500K+ datasets, 1M+ applications and 200K+ companies on the platform. The post explicitly commits that Hugging Face stays multi-cloud and multi-accelerator and that "NVIDIA compute will not be required to build on or deploy through Hugging Face," and keeps the 🤗 brand. Reports from The Information, CNBC and Fortune had the deal at $12.9B in late August, while Bloomberg put it nearer $14B on September 2, and it converts a minority stake NVIDIA has held since the August 2023 Series D.
