Cursor Automations: Event-Triggered Agent Workflows in the IDE
Cursor launched Automations in March 2026, enabling developers to trigger coding agents from codebase changes, Slack messages, or timers without manually prompting. The system runs automations including Bugbot (automatic bug review on every commit), security audits, and PagerDuty-triggered incident response agents that query server logs via MCP. This breaks the prompt-and-monitor dynamic and represents the closest thing to autonomous CI-integrated agent pipelines inside an IDE.
