Three separate persistent-memory-for-coding-agents projects all cut a major release inside one week, in three different languages
akitaonrails/ai-memory (Rust, 5,681 stars) shipped v2.0.0 through v2.0.2 in 25 hours on 2026-09-02/03; Gentleman-Programming/engram (Go, 6,314 stars) is on its fourth v2.0.0 release candidate in five days; gastownhall/beads (Go, 26,874 stars) cut v1.3.0-rc.1 on 08-31. All three sell the same pitch, agent-agnostic memory that survives across sessions and vendors, and all three were pushed within the last 24 hours. The category has gone from one project to a three-way race with no shared format between them.
