XDOF is talking to 8VC at $1.2B on ~$50M revenue from people teleoperating robots folding laundry
Three months after leaving stealth, XDOF, founded in 2024 by UC Berkeley researchers Philipp Wu (CEO) and Fred Shentu (CTO), is in late-stage talks for a Series B at roughly $1.2 billion led by 8VC, after a $70 million Series A in June 2026 from Thrive, a16z, Lux and Spark. Annualized revenue is approaching $50 million from 20 customers including several frontier labs. The work itself is unglamorous: remote teleoperators driving low-cost GELLO rigs and egocentric operators in body sensors capturing tasks like folding clothes and flattening boxes, with a co-released ABC dataset via UC Berkeley.
