Astra users report the $20 Plus quota draining 4-5x faster than Sol, roughly double the published 2.5x price multiplier
Reports collected from the Chinese-language forums Linux.do and NodeSeek allege Astra consumes more subscription quota than its published rates explain. Astra lists at 2.5x Sol for input, cached input and output; users report an extra 1.4x to 1.8x on top, one measuring the same five-hour allowance as roughly $18 of Sol usage but only $10 of Astra usage at each model's own API prices, consistent across four accounts. A Linux.do thread reports 4-5x quota consumption with 97-98% cache hit rates on both models, and a six-account comparison lands at 1.4-1.6x. All of it is user telemetry with no vendor response, and r/OpenAI's parallel thread 'How is anyone actually using Astra on the $20 Plus plan' drew 115 comments the same day.
