Arm's First AI-Native Mali GPU Puts Neural Accelerators Inside the Shader Cores and Cuts Memory Traffic Up to 70%
Arm announced the Mali G2-Ultra NX on September 8 as part of CSS for Mobile 2, pairing dedicated neural accelerators inside the shader cores with the largest Mali instruction set change in seven generations and a third-gen ray tracing unit. It ships three neural graphics paths: Neural Super Sampling, Neural Frame Rate Upscaling, and Neural Super Sampling and Denoising for ray-traced scenes. Arm claims up to 24% higher benchmark performance and 14% higher non-AI gaming performance versus the prior generation, up to 120 FPS on mobile, up to 70% lower external memory traffic versus native rendering, and Opacity Micromaps raising frame rates 30% while cutting ray tracing work up to 70%. Tooling ships as the Arm Neural Graphics Development Kit with Unreal Engine plug-ins.
