56,000 Americans ranked 79 AI policies: apprenticeships and automation severance win, UBI and sovereign wealth funds lose badly
Import AI 472 covers a Center for Shared AI Prosperity poll of 56,000 Americans across 79 AI policy proposals. The top of the list is unglamorous labour policy: expand apprenticeships (+66 net), require severance when a job is automated (+63), sector-based job training (+60). The bottom is everything the AI-policy commentariat spends its time on: a sovereign wealth fund (-51), a profit distribution tax (-33) and universal basic income (-33), which is a sharp mismatch between elite proposals and public appetite.
