Claude Code caps saved tool results at 1 GB and tells you in-conversation when a file was truncated
Claude Code Changelog·medium signal
2.1.265 adds a 1 GB ceiling on tool results written to disk, and the in-conversation preview now states when a saved file was cut short rather than presenting a partial result as complete. Paired with the earlier bashOutputMaxChars control, this closes the case where an agent reasoned confidently over a silently truncated artifact. Check any pipeline that reads back saved tool results and assumes completeness.
