Sebastian Raschka says delete or regenerate your AGENTS.md and SKILL.md files, because the hand-holding now constrains newer models
Raschka's 2026-09-09 Ahead of AI issue on GPT-6 Astra passes along advice from a colleague and the Claude Code lead: archive some of your existing AGENTS.md contents and SKILL.md files, since newer models understand the prompt well enough that old descriptions can constrain them into worse solutions. He keeps the exception for workflows where a skill file saves rediscovery cost on reuse. He also flags that Astra hits 99.9% on ARC-AGI-3 against GPT-5.6 Sol's 7.8%, but argues the independent Artificial Analysis indices matter more, and notes models are typically tuned for one primary harness so cross-harness agentic evals may understate them.
