OpenAI Confirms It Is Co-Developing Next-Generation Chips and HBM With Samsung

At a Seoul press conference on September 9, OpenAI Korea GM Harrison Kim said joint production and research on next-generation chips is where the Samsung relationship has progressed furthest, extending a prior memory letter of intent. Samsung is expected to build the successor to Jalapeno, OpenAI's first custom inference processor developed with Broadcom in June and fabbed at TSMC. OpenAI also said ChatGPT Enterprise seats in South Korea have grown roughly 28-fold since August 2025.
