Sequoia doubled down on Cymphony, which tracks AI agents as identities alongside employees
TechCrunch·medium signal
TechCrunch reported on 2026-09-09 that Sequoia increased its investment in Cymphony, a platform giving security teams one view of employees, AI agents, and other nonhuman identities, including which systems and sensitive data each can reach. The pitch is that agent proliferation created an identity class that existing IAM tooling does not model. It arrives the same week Anthropic warned that infostealer malware is draining Claude subscriptions through hijacked sessions, which is exactly the failure mode a nonhuman-identity inventory is supposed to catch.
