MediaTek Ships the First 2nm Phone Chip, and It Runs 30B-Parameter MoE Models Entirely On-Device

MediaTek announced the Dimensity 9600 Pro on September 15, built on TSMC's 2nm N2P process with Arm C2 cores, LPDDR6 support and a dual-NPU design. The NPU 1090 delivers 51% higher LLM prefill throughput and 55% more token generation per watt, and the Generative AI Engine 3.0 doubles INT4 compute so the chip can run mixture-of-experts models up to 30 billion parameters without a cloud round-trip. Multi-core power drops 61% versus the predecessor, and a 3nm Dimensity 9600M variant ships alongside it.
