A FOIA request returns 132 nearly-blank pages on a secret US frontier-model evaluation framework
Gary Marcus reported on September 15 that Protect Democracy's FOIA request for records on a US government framework for screening frontier models before release produced 132 pages that are almost entirely redacted. The only substantive disclosure is two names, OSTP Director Michael Kratsios and US CTO Ethan Klein. Marcus's point is the contradiction, an administration campaigning against AI regulation while running one in private, and he argues secrecy where 'the terms, criteria, and justifications for regulatory action known only to a few' is itself the abuse risk.
