Anthropic Signs a A$32B Lease for a 2.16GW Australian Inference Campus, Its First in the Country
ABC News Australia·high signal
Anthropic signed its first Australian data centre agreement for a campus near Dalby in Queensland's Western Downs, about 250km north-west of Brisbane, with planned capacity of 2.16 gigawatts and a headline value of A$32B. Singaporean developer Zerra DC will build the site, targeted to come online in 2027, and the lease is subject to Foreign Investment Review Board and council approval. Notably the campus is for inference serving Claude requests rather than training, and its power draw is equivalent to roughly 1.5 million Australian households.
