Google's AI & Economy ATLAS finds US computer and mathematical roles account for 30% of work AI usage, double the global rate
Google published an interactive open-access dataset built with MIT FutureTech's occupational taxonomy tracking AI usage by country and occupation. India's arts, design and media sector is 19% of its work-related AI usage, 1.6x the world average; Brazil and Germany put 7% of usage toward equipment diagnostics against 4% in Japan; OECD countries skew technical and financial while non-OECD countries skew administrative, creative and education. A companion survey of 600+ scientists across 2,600 specialized models found nearly half use AI daily and report saving almost 7 hours a week, with the remaining bottlenecks in physical experimentation and clinical validation.
