A LACT pull request would let NVIDIA cards run below the VBIOS minimum power limit, down to 30W
PR #1205 against ilya-zlobintsev/LACT, opened 2026-09-16, allows NVIDIA power caps down to 30W when a compatible RM power client is detected, including values the VBIOS refuses, by detecting supported layouts at runtime while preserving the native maximum and keeping NVML behavior inside the native range. The author validated it with unit tests and a 150W cap on driver 610.57.04. For local-inference rigs this is the difference between a 5090 pinned at its 400W floor and one tuned for tokens-per-watt; the PR is open and unmerged.
