Anthropic Folds Cowork Into Claude and Ships Docs, Slides and Design as Editable Surfaces
On 2026-09-16 Anthropic collapsed Claude chat, Cowork and Artifacts into one window that routes a request to an inline answer or a long-running agentic task on its own, and launched Claude Docs, Claude Slides and Claude Design in beta on paid plans. Slides export to PowerPoint and PDF, Docs supports collaborative editing and commenting via share link, and Claude Design (built on Canva's design engine since April) now runs inside any conversation rather than as a separate tool. Rollout starts with Pro and Max on web, desktop and mobile, Team and Free later, with 30+ days notice to enterprise admins. The builder read: the model vendor just became a document and deck editor, which puts it in the same box as Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and the presentation layer of Figma, and it means the surface you edit in is now owned by whoever owns the model.
