DeepSeek Expects Huawei Training Chips in Q4 and Plans a 160,000-Accelerator Inner Mongolia Cluster
The Information reports CEO Liang Wenfeng told investors DeepSeek expects Huawei to begin delivering training chips as early as Q4 2026, a pivot away from Nvidia for training rather than just inference. DeepSeek plans to deploy at least 160,000 Huawei accelerators at a data center under construction in Inner Mongolia, likely the largest known concentration of Huawei AI silicon anywhere. Huawei separately pulled its Ascend 960DT launch forward to Q1 2027 from Q3 2027 at Huawei Connect on September 17.
