Unitree showed the Dex5-S dexterous hand with 22 degrees of freedom on 2026-09-22, at a stated $6,500 per hand against the Wuji Hand 2's $16,000-$20,000 for 20 DoF. The r/singularity thread (100 upvotes) had two substantive criticisms worth carrying: much of the demo video is renders rather than filmed footage, with real footage only appearing halfway through, and a commenter noted the hand costs about as much as a whole humanoid robot from the same maker. Tactile sensor density, not DoF count, is where the thread's skeptics say the sim-to-real gap actually lives.
