CROSS-CATEGORY: Four Vendors Shipped 'The Agent Is a First-Class Principal' in the Data Layer on the Same Day
On September 22, BigID launched AgentIQ (run a data security and compliance program from a prompt inside Claude, Copilot, GPT or Gemini via BigID's MCP), Cohesity introduced Agent Resilience (discover, protect and recover the infrastructure behind enterprise AI agents, starting with Amazon Bedrock), Semarchy shipped Intelligent Data Products where every data product automatically creates its own MCP server carrying quality rules and access rights, and SereneDB released a database that enforces roles and permissions for agents at the data layer. Four unrelated vendors in security, backup, master data management and databases all made the same architectural bet in one 24-hour window: agents need identity, permissions and recovery as a distinct class, not as borrowed service accounts. For builders, this is the week the agent stopped being a client and started being a principal in the governance model.
