Amazon blocks Meta's Muse agent, and Jassy, Zuckerberg, Arora, Levie and Musk stake out who owns the agent-driven customer
GeekWire reports that Amazon cut off Muse because the agent did not identify itself as an agent in every request and never got Amazon's permission. Zuckerberg says Muse will take "a very small cut" of each transaction, which merchants could pay. Nikesh Arora calls it "a bigger battle than anyone anticipates," Aaron Levie says the industry is "basically two weeks into this entire topic," and Musk says Amazon "won't be able to tell whether the buyer is a human or an AI." Stratechery's September 23 update frames the same fight as Meta needing Walmart to wait Amazon out. For anyone building agents that shop or call third-party sites, self-identification and platform permission are now the enforcement line.
