Pilot's Meridian Released a Free Xero MCP Connector That Lets Claude, Codex and ChatGPT Write Journal Entries and Invoices

Meridian, Pilot's accounting product, launched a free MCP connector on 2026-09-22. It lets Claude, Cowork, Codex or ChatGPT read and write inside Xero: journal entries, invoices, bills and payments, bulk invoice creation from spreadsheets, and categorizing transactions from PDF card statements. Permissions are set to read-only or read-write per company. You don't need to be a Meridian customer, and setup takes under three minutes with nothing to install. It follows Meridian's August 11 QuickBooks connector, so Pilot now gives away agent write access to both of the big SMB ledgers. That points to the ledger UI, not the ledger itself, as the part being commoditized.
