Crunchbase data published 2026-09-23 counts at least 114 Series A rounds of $100M or more so far this year, about $33B combined. That is the highest total in years and on track to beat the all-time peak. At least 12 rounds were $500M or larger, and US startups took about 62 deals worth roughly $15B. The largest examples are River AI's $1.2B Series A for a custom model-training platform and Xpeng Robotics' $900M. For SaaS builders, 'Series A' no longer marks a stage: capital is clustering early around a few perceived AI category leaders.
