In his first public appearance as head of Google DeepMind, at The Information's AI Agenda Live summit, Kavukcuoglu said Google wants to release 'an early post-training output' of Gemini 4 as soon as possible. He admitted Google 'took a little bit of a step back' to ship Flash models instead of a Gemini 3.5 Pro. Coming the same week as Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Sol/Luna, this sets up another flagship release within weeks. No benchmarks or date were given.
