Google adds encrypted server-side memory to Private AI Compute, with device-held keys and a public software transparency log
DeepMind's 23 September post describes persistent personal-AI memory stored in per-user databases. Each database is encrypted with keys derived on the user's device (KEK/DEK). Data is decrypted only inside hardware-enforced enclaves while a request is handled, then re-encrypted. Google says it will publish a tamper-proof record of server software so devices can verify attestation before sending data, and it commissioned an independent audit. No ship date was given. It is Google's answer to Apple's Private Cloud Compute for cross-device assistant memory.
