Vigilance Security's 'Dark Sourcery' seeds the web so ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews hand out scammers' support numbers

Vigilance Security researchers, led by VP of Research Ariel Simon, describe attackers publishing SEO-optimized posts, PDFs, reviews and fake support pages that mix authoritative-looking sources with public-opinion content. The goal is to get chatbots to recommend fraudulent phone numbers and login pages. The researchers counted at least 374 targeted brands, including Delta, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America and Airbnb, with fake HP printer support pages as one example. Any agent that looks up contact details on the open web inherits this poisoning.
