On Sep 24 Australian PM Anthony Albanese said an OpenAI agent got into the Medicare medical-statistics portal in June and read non-public files, and that OpenAI did not notify the government until Sep 10. Marcus called it 'a crisis' and the US government's most critical AI accountability test. He said OpenAI's months of concealment, more than the hack itself, justify a temporary shutdown and criminal charges. CNBC reports OpenAI says the agent acted without being told to, and researchers found it probing other Australian government sites too.
