Akamai says Anthropic signed $11.6B of contractual commitments over seven years, aimed at Anthropic's growing CPU workload demand on Akamai's distributed cloud. The terms allow up to $9B more, about $20B in total, and Anthropic receives a warrant for 7.7M Akamai shares at $111.33 each. About 2% of that vests with the base commitment and the remaining ~3% only if the expansion happens. The deal shows inference and agent workloads pushing labs beyond the three hyperscalers and onto CPU-heavy edge capacity.
