GitHub will turn on Copilot features by default for Business and Enterprise orgs that haven't configured them, starting October 22
A GitHub changelog post on 2026-09-24 says eligible GA Copilot features, including the Copilot Code Review policy and MCP servers in Copilot, become enabled on 2026-10-22 for Business and Enterprise orgs that left them unconfigured. Admins get a 28-day window and a new 'Default policy for new features' setting under AI Controls: Enabled, Disabled, or Let organizations decide. Explicit earlier choices are preserved, and preview features stay opt-in. Orgs that never set an MCP policy will have MCP servers turned on unless an admin acts first.
