Replit Bought Atta and Basedash Opened MCP Write Access on the Same Day, Moving Dashboard Building Into the Agent Chat
Replit acquired charting startup Atta on 09-25 and shipped interactive charts in its agent chat for paid plans. The agent picks chart types, such as waterfalls for revenue and heatmaps for retention, over BigQuery, Databricks and Snowflake connectors. Basedash shipped MCP write the same day, exposing create_chart, edit_chart, create_dashboard and edit_dashboard. Claude or Cursor can now explore a schema, write and validate SQL, and pick the visualization. Microsoft's new Copilot Code also generates interactive dashboards, so a dashboard is becoming something the user's existing agent produces on request. That puts pressure on standalone BI seats from coding tools and BI vendors at once.
