Cursor Automations: Event-Driven Background Agents Triggered by Slack, GitHub PRs, and PagerDuty
Cursor's Automations system (launched March 2026) lets you define always-on background agents on a Trigger-Action model: webhook from Slack message, merged PR, new issue, or PagerDuty incident fires an agent that runs a defined skill with cloud agent tooling and observability. The built-in BugBot agent reviews every code push for bugs and security issues and notifies engineers via Slack — no prompt required. The framework runs on MCP, so any MCP-compatible tool is available to triggered agents.
