GitHub Copilot for JetBrains IDEs Receives Major Agentic Capabilities Upgrade

On March 11, 2026, GitHub Copilot shipped a major agentic capabilities update for the JetBrains IDE family (IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, WebStorm, GoLand, etc.), extending the agent-mode features previously exclusive to VS Code into the JetBrains ecosystem of ~12M developers. This closes the agent capability gap between the two dominant IDE platforms and signals that agentic coding is now a cross-IDE baseline expectation, not a VS Code-specific feature.
