Released March 18, v2.1.78 introduced the StopFailure hook event — enabling automation workflows to detect agent failures without polling, the first failure-state hook in Claude Code's event system. Also added sandbox allowRead settings for re-allowing read access within denyRead regions (fine-grained filesystem permission layering) and line-by-line response streaming. Persistent plugin data storage was added, enabling stateful plugins that survive between sessions.
