Claude Code v2.1.76 MCP Elicitation: Servers Can Request Structured Input Mid-Task via Interactive Dialog with Intercept Hooks
Released March 14, 2026, Claude Code now supports MCP elicitation — MCP servers can trigger interactive dialogs (form fields or browser URL) to collect structured user input during task execution. New Elicitation and ElicitationResult hooks let you intercept and override responses before they're sent back to the server. This enables conditional human-in-the-loop patterns triggered by the MCP server itself, not just the orchestrator, opening advanced approval-gate workflows.
