Figma Launches MCP Server Open Beta: AI Agents Can Now Create and Edit Directly on the Canvas

Figma released its MCP server in open beta, enabling AI agents to read, create, and edit components directly on the Figma canvas using design system variables. The use_figma tool works with Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Copilot CLI, and other MCP clients. A new skills system lets anyone write markdown-based instructions that teach agents how to behave on the canvas — no plugin development required. The API will be paid but is free during beta as Figma figures out agentic seat pricing.
