Google's Gemini now has 750 million monthly active users, up from 350 million a year ago. Simultaneously, AdWeek reports Google told at least two advertising clients in direct calls that ad placements in Gemini are targeted for 2026 — despite DeepMind CEO Hassabis publicly saying there were 'no plans' for Gemini ads. Google is testing ad formats in AI Mode (Search extension) before bringing them to standalone Gemini. For builders, this confirms that conversational AI advertising is coming — and the intent data from AI conversations is 'far more granular than a single search query.'
