Google Gemini Launches Memory and Chat History Import: 'Switching Tools' to Poach ChatGPT and Claude Users
Google launched 'switching tools' for Gemini that let users import memories (preferences, personal context) and full chat history ZIP files from ChatGPT, Claude, and other chatbots. For memory import, users paste a prompt into their current AI app to generate a context summary, then paste the result back into Gemini. Chat history imports accept ZIP exports. This follows Anthropic's earlier memory import feature, escalating the platform lock-in war. Not available for business, enterprise, or EEA/UK/CH accounts.
