Pattern: The Absent Human — Auto Mode Proves Human-in-the-Loop Was Always a Fiction
paddo.dev's March 26 analysis of Claude Code auto mode argues that the feature's real significance isn't autonomy — it's the admission that 'the human in human-in-the-loop was never really there.' Most developers run with --dangerously-skip-permissions or click-approve without reading. Auto mode replaces this fiction with an honest alternative: a Sonnet 4.6 classifier that actually evaluates every action. The pattern extends beyond Claude Code — any agentic system with a 'confirm' button is probably already running without meaningful human oversight. The honest path is better classifiers, not pretend approval flows.
