Meta Introduces Checkout Flow on Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) — New Standard for AI Agent Purchasing Emerging Alongside Stripe
At Shoptalk 2026, Meta introduced a new checkout flow built on the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP), joining Stripe in establishing what appears to be a cross-platform standard for AI agent purchasing. Stripe's Agentic Commerce Suite connects product catalogs once, then extends across compatible agents via Checkout Sessions API. The pattern: ACP is to agent commerce what OAuth was to identity — a protocol layer that lets agents discover products, initiate checkout, and complete purchases without redirecting to traditional web storefronts. Brands like Skims, Vuori, and Glossier are already live on ChatGPT's InstantCheckout via this protocol.
