Pattern: Cloud-Terminal Hybrid Planning Convergence — Ultraplan, Cursor Cloud, and Codex Sandbox Ship Same Architecture
Three major AI coding platforms shipped the same architectural pattern within a month: start a task in your local terminal/editor, offload intensive work to a cloud environment, review/approve in a rich browser UI, then execute either in the cloud or back locally. Ultraplan (Claude Code) offloads planning to cloud Opus for 30 minutes with browser review. Cursor 3 manages local and cloud agents from a central sidebar. Codex runs in persistent cloud sandboxes. The convergence point: the terminal is the launch surface, the cloud is the compute surface, and the browser is the review surface.
