Canva Acquires Simtheory (Agentic AI) and Ortto (Marketing Automation) — Design Tool Becomes Full Work Platform
Canva announced dual acquisitions on April 8: Simtheory, a multi-model agentic AI collaboration platform for building custom agents, and Ortto, a customer data and marketing automation company with 11,000+ customers across 190 countries. Both were founded by Chris and Mike Sharkey. The acquisitions transform Canva from a design tool into an end-to-end system covering ideation, creation, publishing, measurement, and optimization — with Canva Create on April 16 promising 'the biggest evolution in its history.'
