Atlassian Will Train AI on Customer Data Starting August 17 — No Opt-Out for Free/Standard/Premium Plans
Atlassian announced that starting August 17, 2026, it will collect metadata and in-app data from Jira, Confluence, and other cloud products to feed into its AI models. Only Enterprise-tier customers can opt out of metadata collection; Free, Standard, and Premium plans cannot. In-app data collection defaults to on for Free/Standard users with opt-out available, but metadata is always-on for non-Enterprise. Data will be retained for up to seven years. With 300,000+ global customers affected, this has significant implications for teams using Atlassian products. The Register and HN (17pts) picked up the story.
