Microsoft created a dedicated team under VP Omar Shahine to build persistent, always-on AI agents for Microsoft 365, inspired by the OpenClaw framework. Planned features include agents that work around the clock monitoring inboxes, surfacing documents, and flagging time-sensitive items without user prompts. Separately, a Word Copilot update (April 14) has Copilot tracking changes and leaving comments directly in documents — positioning it as an AI coworker, not just an assistant.
