Apple-Google Confirm Gemini-Powered Siri on Track for WWDC 2026: $1B/Year Deal, Custom 1.2T-Param Model, Private Cloud Compute Processing
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian confirmed at Cloud Next 2026 (April 22) that the Gemini-powered Siri overhaul is on track for 2026, with WWDC in June as the expected unveiling. Apple licensed a custom 1.2 trillion parameter Gemini model in a deal costing ~$1B/year. The rebuilt Siri will feature on-screen awareness, cross-app action execution, and personal context from connected apps — all processed through Apple's Private Cloud Compute with end-to-end encryption, no data shared with Google. For developers building iOS apps, App Intent support means Siri will be able to take deep actions inside third-party apps.
