HalluCiteChecker: Lightweight Offline Toolkit for Detecting Hallucinated Citations in AI-Generated Scientific Papers
arXiv·medium signal
HalluCiteChecker, published April 29, formalizes hallucinated citation detection as an NLP task and ships a lightweight toolkit that runs in seconds on a standard laptop CPU with no internet connectivity required. Distributed via PyPI under Apache 2.0 license with code on GitHub. As AI research agents increasingly generate scientific text and citations, automated hallucination detection in bibliographic references becomes critical infrastructure for maintaining research integrity.
