Opus 4.7 Identified a Writer From 125 Unpublished Words — AI Stylometry Kills Anonymous Writing
Writer Kelsey Piper fed unpublished writing into Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.7 and it repeatedly named her as the author — from a 125-word unpublished sample, a student progress report about Pokémon essays, a movie review of a 1942 film she'd never publicly reviewed, and a 15-year-old college application essay. ChatGPT and Gemini mostly guessed wrong on the same samples. Piper concludes that anyone who has written prolifically under their real name has 'probably lost meaningful anonymity.' 360 points and 189 comments on HN.
