IBM Study: 76% of Organizations Now Have a Chief AI Officer, Up from 26% in 2025

IBM's Institute for Business Value surveyed 2,000 CEOs across 33 countries (Feb-Apr 2026) and found CAIO adoption tripled year-over-year to 76%. Additionally, 64% of CEOs are now comfortable making major strategic decisions based on AI-generated input, and 29% of employees are expected to require reskilling for different roles by 2028. Organizations that redesigned five core business areas around AI are 4x more likely to have delivered on objectives.
