EQUITRIAGE audits gender bias in LLM-based emergency department triage, where models assign acuity scores that determine treatment priority. Clinical evidence already documents persistent gender disparities in human triage; this study tests whether LLMs replicate or mitigate those biases when used as triage decision support. The findings are directly relevant for any team deploying LLMs in clinical or safety-critical settings where demographic fairness is a regulatory concern.
