Secret scanning in the GitHub MCP Server graduated from public preview (since March 2026) to GA on May 5, enabling MCP-compatible AI coding agents and IDEs to scan for exposed secrets before commits or PRs. Push protection customizations at repository and organization levels now carry over consistently, so detections and bypass behavior stay aligned with existing security policies.
