Pattern: Agentic Coding Tools Converge on Always-On Remote Execution
Claude Code (Routines + Remote Agents + CI Auto-Fix), Cursor (cloud agents + Design Mode), and Windsurf (Cascade backed by Devin's agent architecture) are all converging on the same model: coding agents that run in the cloud without a local process, triggered by events (schedule, webhook, GitHub action, reviewer comment), and reporting back asynchronously. The local IDE becomes a control plane, not the execution environment. For builders, the shift means designing for agent-friendly repos (clear specs, good tests, CLAUDE.md files) becomes the highest-leverage investment.
